What is Incuba?

Incuba is a business incubator program developed by Emerge SA. This initiative aims at creating economic development in Nicaragua and the Latin-American region by facilitating emerging entrepreneurs with the tools, resources and knowledge needed to boost their business ideas through a series of lectures and workshops.

Why join Incuba?

We want to support the next generation of Nicaraguan and Latin American entrepreneurs aware that their success will shape our region and our cities.

The first cohort of Incuba was formed from a selection of the 35 best business ideas out of 100 applications. From the 35 participants of Incuba, a representation of 10 business ideas were selected for a final pitch competition. The first place won $1,500 as seed capital, sponsored by the DINAMICA Initiative of the consortium formed between the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), the European Union and KfW. Additional prizes included the sponsorship of the legal registration of a company sponsored by Mejia & Mazier Legal Group and three months membership in La Fabrica co-working in Managua, Nicaragua.

Meet the instructors

Søren Simonsen

Executive Director of Community Studio, Founder and Director of Impact Hub Salt Lake, United States. Social entrepreneur, urban designer, architect, certified planner, educator and community builder. Over the past three decades, including 17 years of in public service, he has focused on community and economic development and the future of cities in Utah and the United States of America.

Pilar Martínez-Gohring

Graduated economist at Wheaton College (Massachusetts) and an entrepreneur with more than 13 years of experience creating and managing social impact initiatives in various parts of the world including Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. She is Founder of a social company, Cosecha Partners, and for several years worked for Ashoka, where she led research teams to promote Hybrid Value Chains ™ in publications such as the Harvard Business Review, Financial Times and the pioneering book “Next Generation Business Strategies for the Base of the Pyramid: New Approaches for Building Mutual Value”. He has taught social business workshops for business schools at Georgetown University, Yale and for other leading events on inclusive impact.

Theódulo Báez Arguello

Magister in Business Law from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Director of Taxes & Partner in the Law Firm Báez Cortés. He is part of the Council of Youth of the Superior Council of the Private Enterprise (COSEP). Partner of TP Consulting Nicaragua. Columnist in El Nuevo Diario.

Sara Lila Cordero

Master’s Degree in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Barcelona. Founder of La Fabrica Coworking. She is a WEAmericas 2014 Fellow, a program sponsored by the USA Department of State. Sara Lila leads entrepreneurship workshops at La Fábrica, is the author of the blog, organizer of the events Fuck Up Nights and Startup Weekend. She is on live television every Monday on VOS TV Nicaragua, in the segment The Factory of Entrepreneurs.

Miztle Mejía

Miztle Mejía is a Specialist in Strategic Communication and Marketing graduated from the Universidad Centroamericana. With 14 years of experience in the world of communication, he is currently Founding Director and CEO of Comunica Tus Ideas. He is a promoter of the Social Entrepreneurship and Fellow of Centroamerica Adelante of the Seattle International Foundation.

Ondina Mazier

Partner and Director of Mejía & Mazier Legal Group. She is a specialist in Procedural Law from the Central American University and Master in Regional Integration and Development from the Rafael Landivar University of Guatemala, José Simeon Cañas University of El Salvador and the Central American University of Nicaragua.
